center of resistance considering the tooth in its alveolus, it is that point through which a pure force would result in translation of the tooth without any rotational effect; for a given tooth the center of resistance is found at approximately one-third (0.3 to 0.5) of the distance from the alveolar crest to the apex, and its location does not change (unless root length or alveolar crest height changes)

the maxillary center of resistance is located at the most superior and posterior part of the zygomatomaxillary suture

the center of resistance of individual teeth, it is situated at a point located 1/3 to 1/2 of the distance from the alveolar crest to the root apex

CRe of the nasomaxillary complex is located on the posterosuperior ridge ofthe pterygomaxillary fissure, registered on the median sagittal plane.

The location of the center of resistance of the maxillary central incisor was approximately 0.77 of the root length from the apex. During anterior tooth retraction with sliding mechanics, controlled crown-lingual tipping, bodily translation movement, and controlled crown-labial movement could be achieved by attaching a power-arm length that was lower, equivalent, or higher than the level of the center of resistance, respectively. The power-arm length could be the most easily modifiable clinical factor in determining the direction of anterior tooth movement during retraction with sliding mechanics.
